Once you spend a day on the beach along the Gulf Shores, you’ll understand what the allure. Burying your toes in the soft sand, taking a dip in the warm, salty water, and watching the sun fade below the horizon line in a fiery display of color, are among the many wonders you’ll experience when spending your day on the shores.
Boasting some of the most pristine and scenic areas along the coast, the Gulf Shores has a beach for every type of vacationer. But whether you’re after the bustling, recreation and shopping packed shores of Gulf Place Beach or the remote and relaxed boundaries of West Beach, it’s important to bring with you all the essentials necessary for a day of fun in the sun.
And that’s why we’ve put together a simple packing list for a Gulf Coast beach day.
Let’s start with the obvious: Sunscreen! The Alabama sun is perfect for working on a tan and comfortably slinking down to your swimwear, but can also be ruthless when not properly prepared for. Pack the appropriate SPF for your skin type, and don’t forget to re-apply!
Then, throw in those flip-flops. Our shores offer some of the softest sand around but are also home to shells, stones, and sea critters alike. Of course, once you scour your perfect towel or chair spot for sharp or potentially painful objects, ditch the shoes and dig your toes right in.
If you’re seeking a bit more of a thrill than turning the pages on your murder mystery, bring along your favorite pieces of recreation equipment. We’re talking surf or skim boards, stand up paddle boards, or even your trusty old volleyball.
Don’t have equipment of your own? Then pack some extra cash and rent whatever you’re after. Beach equipment rentals are scattered all along the shoreline.
You’ll be able to use that same cash to pay for parking and food. Most paid parking lots offer public bathrooms and showers, and snack shops and restaurants are within walking distance of downtown beaches.
So what are you waiting for? We’ll save a towel spot for you!
